The small community of Lostine is continue to rally around Isaiah Buck, the 17-year-old who was critically injured in a March 31 accident on Dug Bar Road.

The Lostine Tavern will host a dessert auction for his benefit at starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (today). Wednesday is also the business’ popular Taco Night, which starts about 5 p.m., and it will donate 50 cents of every taco sold to his expense fund.

The Isaiah Buck fund has been set up at Community Bank, and donations can be made at any branch in the county.

Isaiah Buck has been waking out of his deep coma and responding to the people around him. His family were making plans to move him later this week to an acute care facility in Boise, Idaho, for rehabilitation and treatment for neurological injuries he sustained. However, they hit a roadblock to that plan Wednesday, when the facility apparently changed its mind about accepting him because of insurance issues.

He has been hospitalized at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, since the night of the accident.
