In answer to the Chieftain’s editorial of Nov. 13 (“Clearly, Oregon’s GOP needs fresh mission statement”), I agree in part that the Republican Party of Oregon is in dismal shape, but not much more so than the Party nationwide.

I really don’t know what the answer is, but if there were a party available that didn’t advocate and support the killing of the unborn (even down to partial birth abortions) and the okaying of same sex marriage in defiance of the taboo that many books of the Bible places on that practice, I might think of rejoining the Democratic Party.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe the Democrats have the courage to divorce these practices and most Christians of the persuasion I belong to can’t, because of conscience, join such an organization.
