Letter: Fireworks were a blast

I am not one that will easily write letters to the editors of newspapers, but today I feel that the only way that I can send out a “thank you” to those responsible for this year’s Wallowa Lake fireworks was to do so. Our families have been watching, ooing and aahhhhing over the fireworks for years, but this year exceeded our expectations and was a pure delight. The colors, designs, timing and beauty of it all, was wonderful. Thank you!
Many of us have said, “Wow, we spend all this money on fireworks when there are so many financial needs all over our country.” They go up in the air so quickly; BANG, color, puff of smoke and it’s over. Then we start talking about the symbolism of why we celebrate in this way, the real hardships that our forefathers experienced in order that we do have the freedoms that we do today, and then we talk about saying “good-bye” to our troops as they leave for another foreign country. TRADITION, we need it!
So, thank you again for a wonderful grand tradition!
