Letter: Can thief

I really have a sad heart. I am really sad that people think other people’s belongings are theirs for the taking. It has become a sad country that we have now. On Easter weekend, I was home with my granddaughter. It was such a beautiful weekend that I decided to rake the yard. We had several garbage bags full of pop cans that got blown all over the yard during the winter storms. So I hung a 60-gallon plastic bag from a tree limb and told my 2-year-old granddaughter that if she picked up all the cans, she would get the money. She is saving the can money in a barrel bank.

She spent all day picking up the cans all by herself. I tied the bag off and put it at the fence to have my son take it over to the Safeway store to cash in. Someone came along and took that bag of cans.

I hope the person that took that bag feels really good about taking the money away from a little 2-year-old who worked really hard to pick them up.
