- Elane Dickenson/Chieftain
New Family Video owner Andy Hillock gets a copy of his most popular movie, "Alvin and the Chipmunks" off his shelf of new releases. The store stocks up to eight or nine new movies each week.
After over 20 years under the same family ownership, Family Video in Enterprise has a new owner.
Wallowa County native Andy Hillock took over the video rental/pizza business Tuesday, April 1, from Rick Horner and his mother, Susan, who founded Family Video in 1987.

“It’ll be a good change for me,” said Hillock, who already operates his own concrete pumping business and does mechanic work for his parents’ businesses, Enterprise Electric and Enterprise Rental. He is the son of John and Gail Hillock and a 1999 graduate of Enterprise High School.
Hillock said he wanted to invest in a retail or food business, and Family Video is exactly the kind of venture he had in mind. “I’ll be here quite a bit,” he said this week. He has retained the employees who were already working for the video store – Maddy Richardson, Becky Marino, Felicia Crowder and Felycia Gladden.
The new owner said that while he plans no major changes, there are a few alterations he has in mind. For example, he is now opening at 7 a.m. instead of 8 on weekdays to attract the before-work crowd for drive-through espresso.
Hours vary according to the day of the week: Monday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In addition to renting movies and video games, Family Video serves a wide selection of U-bake pizzas, as well as hot and cold espresso drinks, hard ice cream, bottled soft drinks and smoothies. Hillock said that possible future changes included adding a fountain soft drink machine and a pizza oven to bake pizzas on site.
Family Video was operated by Susan Horner for many years, and then taken over by son Rick Horner, whose family is in the process of moving to the Eugene area.
