Letter: Pushing an agenda?

Editor:

I don’t understand our county commissioner and school board member, Dan DeBoie, pushing the agenda of a special purpose government, namely the Nez Perce, by bringing the “Nez Perce perspective on treaties” to our Joseph High School. It’s hard to find evidence of our kids studying the U.S. Constitution or our State Constitution, and I don’t like the idea of my tax dollars being spent on the furthering of tribal propaganda. The Nez Perce is federally recognized for the sole purpose of freely governing its own enrolled members and tribal land, not our local citizens or schools. Our county commissioners have no committed responsibility to the tribes. They are to be committed to the people who elect them. Maybe Dan needs to reassess his commitment to those that elected him or resign and serve the special government he seems so strongly committed to.
