Power outage hits 5,000 customers

A sagging wire on Second Street in Enterprise was the cause of a brief power outage that affected 5,000 customers in Enterprise early Thursday, Feb. 7, according to line foreman Dennis McCleary.

The outage only lasted from 5:26 to 5:32 a.m. before Pacific Power & Light was able to reroute power, but crews rolled out at daylight to make the necessary repairs.

The 12,500-volt line had been sagging a little for some time, and the high winds of Jan. 13-14 magnified the problem to a critical level, causing the interruption of power, McCleary said.

Pacific Power & Light linemen Chad Cooney and Seth McKern went up in the buckets to tighten and reset the line.
