W.C. Humane Society receives bequest

Wallowa County Humane Society recently received a generous bequest from a local resident in memory and honor of Edna Guibor DVM, according to WCHS President, Shirley Preso.

Dr. Guibor, who is recently deceased,  had dedicated her life to helping animals and was an elegant blend of analytical thought, poetic spirit and daring adventure. She traveled the world, living briefly with the Maasai Tribe in Africa and venturing to the Antarctic.

Dr. Guibor owned a veterinary hospital in Chicago for nearly 20 years before she moved to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in Washington State and then 14 years ago retired to Tucson.

The retired veterinarian had a well-mannered black standard poodle named Jackson and she and Jackson were always willing to help other dogs and their owners. All who came in contact with her found her to be gracious and thoughtful in her work and private life, with endless compassion for her patients.

The gift in memory of Dr. Guibor is deeply appreciated and much needed by WCHS and will be put to great use in following her dedication to the welfare of animals.

The Wallowa County Humane Society is completely supported by donations, so this very special gift is particularly meaningful.

Donations are tax deductible and can be made to 426-5906.

Anyone interested in fostering or adopting animals please call as help is desperately needed.”
