Biomass heating meeting set

A public information meeting on Enterprise School District’s conversion from oil to a woody biomass heating system and similar opportunities is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the Smart Board Room in the middle school building.

The meeting is being hosted by the Enterprise district, biomass project contractor McKinstry Essention and Wallowa Resources.

The primary speaker, Cameron Hamilton, business development manager of McKinstry Essention, will explain the ongoing school project, the cost, the energy savings, the energy savings guarantee and the fuel supply. Information will also be provided on air emissions and carbon savings.

Wallowa School District is also pursuing the biomass heating options.

Wallowa Resources is exploring opportunities for small-scale wood-fired combined heat and power system and all other options for use of woody biomass.

According to Wallowa Resources director Nils Christofferson, institutional wood energy systems have a proven track record, and more general information about other options in the community will be given at the meeting.
