Buck joins Lostine City Council

Becky Buck joined the Lostine City Council at the first of this year to finish out the term of Glenda Neal, who recently resigned her position.

Buck accepted Neal’s offer for the appointment because she likes being involved in her community, she said. “Everywhere we’ve lived, we’ve tried to plug in to our community,” Buck said. She grew up in the Willamette Valley. In 1994, she moved to Union County, where her husband Archie earned a teaching degree from Eastern Oregon University. The Bucks moved to Wallowa County in 1999, and Archie became headmaster of Providence Academy in Lostine.

Becky is mother to Brian (21), Layken (18), Shannon (17) and Isiah (16). She served on the board of Head Start in the early 1990s when her children were in the program. She later homeschooled her kids prior to coming to Wallowa County, where they entered Providence Academy. In addition to the school, the family is active in Christ Covenant Church.

Buck’s term expires at the end of 2008.
