Obituaries: Ella Irene Daggett

Ella I. Daggett, 84, died Dec. 17, 2007 at Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise.
Funeral services to be held at 2 p.m., Dec. 22, at Bollman Funeral Home in
Enterprise; private graveside services at Joseph Prairie Creek Cemetery to follow.
Ella was born to Edgar Garrett and Edna (Harris) Garrett Dec. 31, 1922 in Mabton, Wash. She moved with her parents to several different locations in the Northwest and attended Kennewick High School before moving to Joseph. Early in her working career she worked for local grocery stores in Joseph. Her last employment was
with the Joseph Post Office as rural mail carrier and retired after 24 years of service.
Most of her life was in Joseph after marrying Charlie Daggett Feb. 7,1940. They raised five children, Charles Thomas (Tom), Edna Mae, Ruby Irene, Richard Harold (Dick) and Harry Wayne. An important part of her life was her membership with the Rebekah Lodge, receiving many honors including life membership. Survivors include sons Tom Daggett and wife Geri of La Grande; Dick Daggett of Tucson, Ariz., Harry Daggett and wife Ginger, daughter Ruby Winegar and husband Jerry of Joseph, sisters Opal Hudkins of Spokane, Wash., Cleta Carson, brother David Garrett and wife Betty of Kennewick, Wash.. Ella has 15 grandchildren,33 great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and daughter Edna Mae Bornstedt McKinnis. Memorial contributions may be made to Wallowa Valley Care Center in Enterprise.
