Earning a second chance, Ethan Lowe, a junior wrestler at Joseph High School, extracted a little revenge against Mitch Freeman of Irrigon High School.

In the 215-pound weight class, Freeman beat Lowe in three rounds Friday, Dec. 7, at the Culver Invitational. However, Lowe rebounded to win the rest of his matches and finish in third place.

The next day, Lowe and Freeman squared off in a rematch for the medal. Midway through the second period, Lowe planted Freeman’s shoulders to the mat to finish him off with 48 seconds left on the clock.

Ben Garnett, a senior at Joseph, also earned a medal. Wrestling with the heavyweights, Garnett advanced to the semifinals and suffered his first loss of the season. Ryan Hake of Lowell High School topped Garnett by the score of 7-3. In a consolation match, Garnett won third place.

Meanwhile, junior Clancy Warnock won two of four matches in the 152 class. Both victories came via pin falls.

The Eagles will bounce back from the big meet at Culver and journey to the Baker Tournament Dec. 15.
