A 12-person jury found Jack L. Poulson, 46, Wallowa, not guilty of eight felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of criminal conspiracy in a one-day trial on June 13.

A second trial with Poulson as the defendant was scheduled on June 16, but was cancelled when he pleaded guilty to menacing, one of the two charges in the trial. The second charge, tampering with a witness, was dismissed.

Poulson’s drug charges dated back to the fall of 2004, when he was arrested and charged with delivery of marijuana. The dates of the eight alleged delivery counts ranged from July 24 to Sept. 11, 2004.

Poulson was defended by Wallowa attorney Ronald Schenck. He was unavailable for comment.

About the charges of which Poulson was acquitted, Wallowa County District Attorney Dan Ousley said only that the jury had made its decision. “I thought there was enough evidence to convict him, but the jury felt otherwise,” he said.
