Cable television subscribers in Wallowa County rose to the occasion in November and December when Crestview Cable Communications raised money for the Wallowa County Food Bank by offering discounted movie packages to those who made a $5 food bank donation.

This year’s donations totaled $896.25.

“We are really pleased that we could donate this money to the Community Connection. They tell us they need the funds more than ever,” general manager Tony Ashcraft said. “The true generosity of our subscribers is inspirational. This year one of our subscribers from Central Oregon sent a donation to benefit the Wallowa community. We never know how much will be raised, or from whom, but we have always gotten a generous response.”

Food banks can purchase food at such discounts that the donated funds translate into thousands of meals for the hungry in the local area.
