The No. 2 Weston-McEwen (5-3) girls basketball team rallied from a three-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter to beat Enterprise 45-37 in the first round of the Oregon Trail Classic on Thursday.

Down 28-25 after three quarters, the defending state champions outscored the Outlaws 20-9 in the final period.

Julie Butterfield led the Outlaws (5-4) with 13 points, while Sara Freels added eight points.

Susanna Bonifer helped give the TigerScots a 39-35 cushion on a putback basket with 2:09 left on the game. Bonifer led the TigerScots with 12 points and six steals. The senior point guard hit 5 of 7 free throws in the second half to seal the win.

Throughout the game, Enterprise played tough defense, holding WM to a dismal 16 for 56 from the field and only five points in the third quarter, but the TigerScots found success in the final period with its post game.

What did in EHS late in the game was turnovers, eventually giving the ball up 24 times on the evening.

On Friday, it took EHS an extra period before falling in a tightly contested game with Pilot Rock (3-7) 36-35 in the consolation game at the Oregon Trail Classic.

Enterprise continues action on Friday against Wapiti League opponent Union. Game time is at approximately 6 p.m.
