WCSO says rape reported in Joseph

A rape in Joseph was reported to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) on Sept. 27, according to a department press release Monday. The incident has been under investigation since it occurred.
The victim was asleep in the victim’s residence, then awakened and raped by an unknown suspect, the sheriff’s office said.

The residence was unlocked, said WCSO Sheriff Fred Steen.
The suspect was described as a white clean-shaven male, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with a stocky build and short brown curly or wavy hair. He had a tan complexion and was last seen wearing a white muscle t-shirt and baggy gray sweatpants, according to the release.

WCSO said it wants to remind county residents to lock their homes at night and when they are away.
If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact WCSO detective Neil Rogers at 426-3131. There are no suspects at this time, Steen said.
