Erin Elizabeth Lunde, M.D., participated with 8,000 other Harvard University graduates in the 354th commencement exercises in Cambridge, Mass., on June 9. In the afternoon, she joined 180 other medical students, receiving her doctorate of medicine and taking the Hippocratic oath at Harvard Medical School.
Her parents, Nick and Angie Lunde of Joseph, her brother, Peter of Portland and 10 other extended relatives and friends, joined her in the celebration of this long-awaited day.
Dr. Lunde, a 1995 graduate of Joseph High School and a 1996 AFS student in Sweden, graduated from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass., in 2000. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Ecuador in 2003-2004.
She continues her training in a three-year family practice residency at the Sutter Medical Center in Santa Rosa, Calif. She plans to continue working with under-served and Spanish-speaking patients in the U.S., as well as continuing to be involved with health development projects abroad.
