The Joseph Bronz, Blues and Brews Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a full day of music and a diverse lineup of musicians in Joseph City Park on Aug. 13.
Headlining this year’s event will be blues-rocker Tinsley Ellis, a guitarist who began his career in Atlanta in the 1970s and has averaged 200 days a year on the road since the 1980s.

Leading off the day-long blues fest will be Oregon’s own Mark Lemhouse, who will have just returned from a European tour in time for the local event. He melts together various traditional blues styles with strong original material.
Others scheduled to perform in Joseph are DK4, a group which features four veteran professionals of the Portland blues scene: Janiva Magness, a W.C. Handy Award nominee for Best Female Artist of 2005; and hot guitar player Michael Burks, who is coming here all the way from Arkansas.
Guitar One magazine, which selected Burks’ CD as among the 200 greatest guitar recordings of all time, said he’s “An immensely talented guitarist and singer who will singe the whiskers right off your face.”
In addition to nonstop music from noon to dark, the festival will feature bronze sculptures, microbrews and local foods. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Children under the age of 10 are admitted free.
There are several places that sell tickets in advance: W.C. Marketplace and Sports Corral in Joseph; The Bookloft, Terminal Gravity, and Enterprise Stereo and Music in Enterprise; La Grande Stereo and Music and Music in La Grande; Barley Brown’s Brew Pub in Baker City; Hot Poop in Walla Walla, Wash; and Pepperland Music in Lewiston, Idaho.
No pets, outside alcohol or coolers are allowed in the park. Festival goers may not take alcohol outside the park and large shade tents are not allowed. Organizers suggest attendees bring a sweatshirt or coat, a lawn chair or blanket, sunscreen and a small flashlight.
