Health Tip of the Week: Duct tape as wart treatment

Try covering a wart with a small piece of duct tape, and leave it on for six days. Then, soak the wart, remove the dead skin on top and leave it uncovered for 12 hours before applying duct tape again. Strange? Yes, but a recent study showed that treating warts by covering them with duct tape for six days at a time was more effective than freezing with liquid nitrogen at two-week intervals. In this study, 51 children with common warts (not on the face or genitals) were randomly assigned to one of these two types of treatment. The warts completely resolved in 85 percent of the group using duct tape, compared to 60 percent of the group whose warts were frozen.
