To the Editor:

We wish to draw every citizen’s attention to the illegal removal of political lawn signs displayed along the streets of our communities. We are informed by the police department of Enterprise that this activity is a criminal misdemeanor.

Anyone illegally removing these signs risks arrest and trial. Conviction will result in penalties to the maximum extent of the law.

It is important to point out that illegal sign removal violates everyone’s private property rights and their right of free speech and expression. This right is guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.

Please be good citizens, tolerant of your neighbors even if you disagree with them. This will protect everyone’s right to express an opinion by displaying lawn signs before their homes and places of business.
