Many attend Hodge reunion

Ninety family members and friends of the late Steve and Barbara (Hammack, Sweet) Hodge had their reunion at Emmigrant Springs State Park Aug. 15.
Twelve children (Ellen, Nan, Charlie, Stella, Fred, Steve Junior, Bill, Via, Evin, Joe, Lillie and Albert) grew up in Steve and Barbara’s home.

Of these 12, Via Gray is the only child living. She resides in Potter House, an adult foster care home in Enterprise.
At the reunion Via, age 96, was honored as the oldest person present. Twenty-month-old James Knibbs, great-grandson of Steve Jr., was honored as the youngest person present. Shirley Spencer, daughter of Charlie, and husband Bob from Roseburg were honored as coming’ the farthest distance to the gathering. Fredia McDonald; La Grande,daughter of Lillie, was honored as coming the shortest distance to this gathering.
A special attraction at this gathering was the presence of eight-year-old triplets Jim, Kaylee and Kristen, children of Jim and Karena Gross, granddaughter of Steve Jr. All those present enjoyed a potluck picnic day of visiting, showing photos and sharing memories.
