On June 4 the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) announced grants totaling $331,917 to Baker, Grant, Malheur, Union, Wallowa and Wheeler county nonprofit organizations.
Wallowa County recipients are:
Enterprise Hometown Improvement Group – $10,000 to renovate the city tennis courts, replacing deteriorating asphalt with a new playing service.
Friends of the Wallowa County Museum – $10,000 for museum expansion.
Wallowa County Business Facilitation – $4,000 to help pay for the services of a facilitator to provide free business coaching for Wallowa County entrepreneurs.
There was also a $25,000 grant to the Mt. Emily Safe Center in Union County for the purchase of a permanent site for a child advocacy center designed to serve Baker, Union and Wallowa counties.
OCF provides more than $30 million annually to support Oregon’s communities through nonprofit and educational programs. The northeastern Oregon grants were part of OCF’s recent grant distribution of $12,200,000 to 488 nonprofits across the state.
The foundation has worked for 30 years to build a permanent endowment from the gifts of many Oregonians to “improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy,” according to Mary Jane Rose, OCF Heritage Fund Advisory council member.
