Wallowa 1st/2nd grade: Sights, smells, sounds, tastes of Christmas written about by students

The children in Jan Bird’s first-and-second-grade class in Wallowa wrote about Christmas as experienced through their five senses.

I smell pine trees in my house. The sound of singing is nice. Soft snow feels so good. Snow is cold in winter. Cookies taste chocolaty and soft. It is nice to look at white snow. It is fun to look at the tree with joyful glee. Christmas is fun. I like to look at lights on the tree.

I like to feel the cold snow. At Christmas I smell my pokey tree. And I like to hear the bells ring. I like to taste the food. My dad likes to see the stuff in his stocking. My mom likes to see us open our presents at , Christmas. Christmas is about Jesus’ birthday. That’s when he was born on December 25th.
