Lorraine Sasser

Lorraine Sasser, 72, of Wallowa, died Oct. 8, 2003, at home after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Levi and Helen Johnson on April 8, 1931.

After being raised in Elgin and Wallowa, she married Zelmer Sasser in 1949. Despite her illness, she remained active with her church, Al-Anon, the local food bank and actively participated in her grandchildren’s lives.

Survivors include her husband, Zelmer; sons Mike and Marty Sasser, both of La Grande; daughters and sons-in-law Myrna and Ray Neil of Pendleton and Marilyn and Jim Berry of John Day; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Charles Coy; brother, Steve Johnson; and sister, Dollie Jewell.

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Enterprise. Interment will follow at Bramlet Cemetery in Wallowa. Memorial contributions may be made to hospice, the American Cancer Society or the charity of the giver’s choice.
