Joyce Cummings

Joyce Genean Cummings, 86, died Dec. 7, 2002.

She was born March 9, 1917, in Enterprise, to Norman and Rubie Winings. Mrs. Cummings graduated from Enterprise High School and married Bruce Cummings in Olympia, Wash., in 1952.

Over the years, she worked as a title clerk for several automobile agencies in Idaho and eastern Washington, as an owner and operator of restaurants, and as a catering manager for many Frederick and Nelson restaurants in the Seattle, Wash., area, and finally as a catering and club manager for the Air Force and Navy. The Cummings lived in Seattle, West Germany, Renton, Wash., and Novato, Calif. while Mr. Cummings served in the Army until his retirement in 1971, when they moved to Enterprise and then to Walla Walla, Wash. She was an avid golfer and collected antiques and art.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce, at home in Walla Walla; a sister, Bernice Thornburgh of Joseph; and many nephews.

Services have already been held, followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery.
