Janice A. Magden, 86, passed away Dec. 6, 2002, at the Royal Plaza Care Center in Lewiston, Idaho. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., the youngest of four daughters of Gus and Flora (Houseworth) Henderson.

Janice A. Magden, 86, passed away Dec. 6, 2002, at the Royal Plaza Care Center in Lewiston, Idaho. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., the youngest of four daughters of Gus and Flora (Houseworth) Henderson.

Mrs. Magden earned a nursing degree at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Later she became an airline hostess for TWA and modeled in several of their advertising campaigns until her marriage to Air Force Lt. Colonel John Magden in 1941.

In 1967, they moved to Lostine from Los Gatos, Calif., and worked for the Wallowa County Health Department in Enterprise until she retired in 1991. After moving to Asotin, Wash., she volunteered at the grade school and at Tri-State Hospital as part of the “Pink Lady” hospital volunteers.

Janice is survived by her sons, Wade Sound Magden of Orland, Calif., Hans Eric Magden of Oregon, Ford Leif Magden of Boulder, Colo., and Karl Henderson Magden of Asotin, Wash.; sisters Avis Welpman of Stover, Mo., Geneva Lindsey of Nashville, Tenn., and Georgina Nichols of Los Alamos, N.M.; and eight grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the family ranch on Joseph Creek.
