The Chieftain’s annual holiday gift guide featuring gift ideas, seasonal greetings, coupons and events from merchants throughout Wallowa and Union counties is inserted into this week’s issue. The 20-page tabloid insert also includes a holiday calendar, stories about Enterprise Winterfest and Wallowa County’s own musical Santa, Bob Clegg, recipes courtesy of the Chieftain staff and other special holiday features.

Thanksgiving

dinner slated

Everyone is invited to enjoy a traditional turkey feast at the annual Wallowa County Thanksgiving Dinner from 1-3:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at the Community Connection Center in Enterprise.

A group of local volunteers provides turkey and other holiday dishes, as well as serves up the meal, every year on Thanksgiving. Senior citizens, residents with small families or no family members living here, and everyone else who would like to enjoy a traditional mea in a warm, social atmosphere are welcome to come.

While tthe main courses are provided, contributions of desserts and salads to the meal or canned food for the Wallowa County Food Bank are appreciated, though not required.

Joseph bazaar

starts Friday

The seventh annual Christmas in Joseph Bazaar will offer a wide variety of holiday decorations and gifts at the Joseph Community Center for the next two weekends. The event opens 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, and continues 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. Normally the same local informal committee that plans this event also holds a bazaar in Enterprise, but since no suitable site could be found this year, the Joseph center will also house the bazaar at the same times Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7.

Approximately 35-40 vendors (about half will be new the second weekend) are scheduled to offer everything from wreaths, garlands, mistletoe, ornaments, handicrafts, artwork candles, soaps and jewelry to Home Interior and Western Pack products.

Skovlin book

Former Wallowa County residents John and Donna Skovlin of Cove will be in Wallowa County Friday, Nov. 29, to sign copies of their book “In Pursuit of the McCartys.” The couple will be at the Bookloft in Enterprise from 10 a.m. to noon and at the Joseph Bookshop in Joseph from 1-3 p.m.

Enterprise

to ‘light up’

The Enterprise Merchants Association invites the community to a Christmas lighting ceremony, Sunday, Dec. 1, at 1p.m.

All those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the Enterprise Flower Shop. After lighting up the downtown area, the merchants will also be providing a free chili feed with hot cocoa and coffee in the basement of the Enterprise Community Church.
