Robert Anderson

Robert “Bob” E. Anderson, 77, of Milton-Freewater, passed away Oct. 27, 2002 at home. He was born Oct. 3, 1925 in Greencastle, Ind., to Harold G. and Christine Bicknell Anderson.
During his youth, Mr. Anderson moved with his family to Toston, Mont. He fought in the Pacific during WWII in an antiaircraft artillery battalion. After the war, he moved to Colorado where he married Mary Lou Jarrad and worked on various ranches and did hard rock mining. He later moved to Wallowa County where he did various assorted jobs, including working as a loan officer for the Bank of Wallowa County (now Community Bank). In 1972, the Andersons moved back to Montana for a time before returning to northeast Oregon to live out his days in Milton-Freewater.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Anderson of Milton-Freewater; son John Anderson of Milton-Freewater; daughters Bobbie Lou Kayne of Coeur d’Alene, Ida. and Jane Schied of Halfway; brothers Frank Anderson of Detroit, Mich. and Joe Anderson of Clarkston, Wash; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Nov. 2 at the Prairie Creek Cemetery in Joseph.
