On Oct. 5 the Western Music Association (WMA) announced the final nominees for its annual awards. Among the nominees was Janet Bailey of Joseph, who was nominated as 2002 Female Entertainer of the Year and for the prestigious Crescendo Award. Her album, “Sweet Prairie Winds” was nominated as the 2002 Western Album of the Year.
“I feel privileged to be associated with the Western Music Association Awards this year, and it is an honor just to be nominated in these three categories,” said Bailey about the nominations. “I only hope I can continue to make music that is recognized by my peers and by those who love this wonderful type of music.”
The Western Music Association, which has offices in Nashville, Tenn., and Tucson, Ariz., has over 1,000 performing and fan members from throughout the world. The association was founded in 1988 to support and promote the historic, traditional and contemporary music of the American West. Janet has been a performing member of the WMA since 1995.
Winners of the awards will be announced at the Western Music Association’s annual festival, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nev. from Nov. 13-17.
