Basketball coaching clinic scheduled Oct. 11

Area basketball coaches will have a chance to learn the finer points of their art on Friday, Oct. 11 in La Grande.
“Winning Strategies,” an annual basketball coaching clinic will be conducted at Eastern Oregon University.
The clinic will feature seven speakers that have Northeast Oregon basketball connections. They include: EOU men’s basketball coach Art Furman; Chuck Vogler, a former Imbler and La Grande high school basketball coach; EOU women’s head coach Anji Weissenfluh,; La Grande high school girls coach Isaac Williams; Gene Heliker from Pendleton who is with the basketball organization High Five America; Terry Bennett, head boys coach at Roosevelt High School in Portland; and Mary West, former girls basketball coach at Imbler high school.
The clinic will be conducted at Quinn Coliseum with registration running from 8:30 until 9 a.m.
The clinic will start at 9 a.m. and run until noon. There will be a 45 minute break for lunch before the clinic resumes from 12:45 until 2 p.m.
The cost of the clinic is $25 for coaches and $10 for assistant coaches and everyone else.
Head coaches that pre-register will receive a $5 discount.
