Troy News: Birthdays celebrated

Published 5:00 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2002

A birthday party was held for Harvey Graham, with friends and neighbors attending. And a “Happy Birthday” to Rhonda Cannon the first week in October. Another birthday is Bud (Howard Johnson). He is 94 today, as I am writing this.

Marge Bieraugel of Flora has won a new shotgun from Ducks Unlimited. It is a Browning shotgun. She was real surprised to win the gun.

The old-time fiddlers’ dance in Flora Saturday was a huge success. There were at last count 126 people there. The potluck dinner brought out all kinds of good food. No one went away hungry. Musicians includedLeonard Samples, Jerry Kiesecker, Charlie Trump, Bob Casey, Larry Bacon and Lester Kiesecker. A young boy played the spoons; he was real good, but I did not get his name.

The North End Grange would like to thank the men who came over and cleaned up the hall for the dance and put in a new bandstand. They were Allen Schnetzky, Don Mallory, Larry Bacon, Charlie Trump, Lorren Murrill and Pake Schnetzky. A big thank you to Charile, as he paid for the new carpeting that was put down by Allen. A lot of work went into getting ready for the dance.

An open house was held at the residence of Mel and Berta Hokanson. They now live in the former home of Mary and Ersel Richman. They have completely redone the house. Their friends and neighbors were there.

Oct. 7 will be a farm service producer meetin g at the Grange Hall. It will be from 7-9 p.m. Ranchers and farmers, come on in.

The hunting season for the deer seams to be a big success. There was lots of hunting on the hill above Troy and on the Richman and Moore place.
