Oregon Farm Bureau is once again supporting Greg Smith for re-election to the Oregon 57th district House Legislative seat.
In an endorsement release, the bureau said Smith has shown untiring dedication to the agriculture and natural resources industries of Oregon, as well as the rural communities which often depend heavily on support from the state government. His efforts during the last session of the legislature, and the five special sessions on the state budget shortfall, has shown Smith to be a sound lawmaker, able to see the problem and find solutions.
Smith, an Oregon Farm Bureau grade A legislator, was credited for getting tax relief legislation passed for small woodland owners, and tax credits for farmworker housing, as well as additional capital gains tax cuts. Smith was also instrumental in passing anti-Eco-terrorism legislation and a bill assuring Oregon statutes, which require peer review, and legitimates science on environmental issues, according to the bureau release.
