- Activities planned for state Rainbow head
Several activities are planned on Saturday,Oct. 5, to honor Jessie Hayward of Joseph, Grand Worthy Advisor in Oregon, International Order of Rainbow for Girls. A “poker run” begins at 2:30 p.m. from the Joseph Masonic Lodge on Main Street in Joseph. There is a $5 charge per participant. The only equipment needed to run in this event is a vehicle. The route for the poker run will include locations around Joseph, Wallowa Lake and the upper valley.
Joseph’s Valley Chapter, Order of Eastern Star will be serving a $5 per person salad supper at the Joseph Masonic Lodge starting at 5 p.m. Reservations need to be made in advance with Claudia Boswell at 569-2225.
Proceeds from both of these events will go to Jessie’s service project for this year. Jessie has chosen the Shriner’s Hospital for Children as her fundraising focus.
At 7:30 p.m. a reception will begin at the Joseph High School cafeteria. Rainbow girls and adults from throughout Oregon and the Northwest will attend this special evening event.
The public is invited to attend any or all of these events. This would be a great time to come and see what Rainbow is all about. A special invitation goes out to any former Rainbow members or girls interested in joining Rainbow to participate.
