West dominates 50th Annual Shrine Game

The 50th Annual East West Shrine game belonged to the boys from the valley Saturday afternoon. The West dominated play downing the Eastsiders 21-7 at Bulldog Memorial Stadium in Baker City.

The West struck pay dirt in the second quarter at the hands of Eliot Vinzant.

The Scappoose running back caried the ball 13 times for 32 yards and a touchdown. He is the Class 3A player of the year.

Defensively the valley boys shut down the East’s running game by allowing only five yards rushing on 39 carries. Vale running back Cody Anthony led the East running game with 21 yards on nine carries.

The West dominated the offensive game finished with 311 total yards 110 of which came at the hands of Reedsport quarterback Chad Harrington. He completed 8 of 23 passes for 110 yards, and carried the ball for a third quarter TD to give the West a 14-0 advantage.

The fourth quarter saw Oakridge running back Uni Prenevost off to the races scooting around the East defense for a 71-yard touchdown to give the West a 21-0 lead in the fourth quarter.

The East finally got on the scoreboard with 5:18 remaining in the game on a toss from Riddle quarterback Craig Schofield to Glendale’s Ryan Owens for a 36-yard touchdown. Enterprise kicker Kyle Crawford split the uprights making the score 21-7.
