Fifth chamber music fest scheduled next week

The fifth-annual Wallowa Lake Chamber Music Festival will be held in Wallowa County Thursday, Aug. 8-Sunday, Aug. 11, bringing an outstanding cast of classical musicians to Wallowa County.
Approximately 30 students will be taking workshops from the faculty, and three public concerts are scheduled in connection with the festival.
Festival soloists will play works by Brahms, Gershwin and Mozart at the Tamastslikt Cultural Center in Pendleton at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 ($6.50 admission), and at the Enterprise Odd Fellows Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 ($5 admission).
A free concerrt by festival students and faculty is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at the courthouse gazebo in Enterprise.
Festival soloists and faculty members include:
Deborah Bish, assistant professor of clarinet at Florida State University, who has performed with orchestras throughout the United States.
Karen Clarke, Professor of Violin at Florida State University faculty since 1980. . Clarke is a former member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Aspen Festival Orchestra and served as concertmaster of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra.
Edward Dixon, conductor and cellist, has performed as soloist, chamber and orchestral musicia throughout the United States and Europe and has worked in the Hollywood recording studios.
Leonie Hartmann, violin, was born in Luneburg, Germany, where she had her first instruction in violin and piano. Leonie is currently a member of the State Theater Orchestra of Mainz.
Lisa Robertson of Enterprise, violin, the founder and music director of the Wallowa Lake Chamber Music Festival, is currently on the faculty of Eastern Oregon University, an artist in the Oregon Artists-in-Education program, and a presenter in the Oregon Chautauqua Program. She was recently a soloist with the Orquesta de la Real Audiencia de Quito, in Quito, Ecuador, and is a member of the Columbia Trio.
